In a book appraisal, a value is placed on an individual book if it is valued over $100, or a group of books i.e., shelf, wall etc..

If you have a signifigant number of books and are looking to donate your books for a tax credit than having your books appraised is a necessity.

If your collection is worth less than $5000 than the IRS does not require an appraisal but any donation valued above $5000 must be accompanied by an appraisal.

Besides doing appraisals for tax credit other reasons that you might want to have your books appraised are for probate, insurance, and in the case of divorce.

Our book appraisal fee is $80/hr, while we are on site and traveling to your location. This does not include any other travel related expenses such as airfare or hotel accomadations, if applicable. Once we are back at our office we charge $45/ hr.
